Trekmates Travle is a registered tour company. That’s likely over-simplified, but it is cleaner than a long list of descriptors. We organize tours across Mongolia, especially around the Altai Mountains. Of course, all types of tours. Quality not crap. Because we are equipped, capable, responsible, and first and foremost, we are fully aware of the expectations and needs of travellers.
Especially the Altai? Yes, Because Trekmates Travel base in Ulgii town of Bayan-Ulgii province, Western Mongolia and the region is home to the majestic Altai Mountains and Altai Tavan Bogd National Park. With its breathtaking landscapes, wide variety of wildlife, authentic nomads, and legendary eagle hunters, the area has become a popular destination for travelers. Therefore, we will be busy with our Altai adventure tours in the west. In addition, we serve other regions when requested by our clients who want to combine their Altai trips with Gobi or Taiga trips.

Erka’s Story and Journey
At the heart of Trekmates Travel lies a compelling story of passion, dedication, and a quest for excellence.

Years ago, a young man, a teacher, a father got his share from the unemployment issue in the country upon returning to his hometown (Ulgii) from Kazakhstan where he had been working as English language teacher. Having found himself at a crossroads, he transitioned into the world of tour guiding, driven by a desire to provide travelers with an experience that surpassed the industry’s standard.
Having spent his childhood summers with nomadic herder uncles in the countryside, Erka possessed a profound understanding of the nomadic way of life. He also gained proficency in activities like horse riding, trekking in the tough mountain train, and climbing non-technical mountains during his time in the countryside as a sheppard boy that would help him become a top-notch guide along with his linguistic skills.

Motivated by dissatisfaction with the status quo of the industry—lack of attention to detail, low-quality services, and unpredictable schedules—Erka took the bold step of establishing Trekmates Travel by confiding in his abilities, skills and experinces.

Long story short, that is how Trekmates Travel was founded in 2017. Within a shord period of time the company swiftly gained a reputation for excellence, earning praise through positive reviews and heartfelt feedback from satisfied clients. Trekmates Travel is not merely a tour company; it is a manifestation of Erka’s commitment to delivering the finest travel experiences, where every detail is meticulously planned, and every adventure is crafted with care.

FOUNDER & TOUR GUIDE
Yerganat (aka Erka) is a native of Bayan-Ulgii. He speaks Kazakh, Mongolian, English, and Turkish. His knowledge of nomadic herder lifestyle, educational background in English Language Teaching from Istanbul, combined with five years of work experience in Kazakhstan, positions him as an exceptional tour guide.
