Itinerary

Day 1. Western Mongolia & Nomad herder family

You will take a flight in the morning to Ulgii town. After landing and meeting the tour team then drive to a nomadic herder family. The family lives closer to Altai Tavan Bogd national park. Upon arrival, we will be welcomed by the warm hospitality of the herder family and get a firsthand experience of their traditional way of life. We will have the chance to observe their daily activities like tending to their livestock and milking animals.

Day 2. Experience nomadic herding lifestyle

Today is all about immersing yourselves in the nomadic lifestyle by interacting with the herder family, discovering their rich culture and traditions. In this full day you can live the life of the herders of the Altai mountains as authentic as possible.

Day 3. Jeep tour into the Altai mountains

After breakfast, you will embark on a drive into the stunning Altai Tavan Bogd national park. As you journey through the picturesque landscapes, you will witness the beauty of Mongolia’s crystal-clear lakes, rolling hills, and rugged mountains. You will stop for a lunch break at a large freshwater lake called Dayan. Drive continues further west along road below forested mountains. You will be amazed by the surrounding landscape and view of Twin lakes as you get closer to the camping spot. Stop by a mountain creek for overnight.

Day 4. Waterfall & Petroglyphs

You will have a leisure day at Khoton Lake, a breathtakingly beautiful camping spot within the national park. You can take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters or simply relax by the shore, taking in the serene surroundings. In the afternoon, we will embark on a short hike to a nearby waterfall, allowing us to connect with nature and enjoy the tranquility of this pristine wilderness.

Day 5. Drive to Tavan Bogd

You will drive to the high elevated corner of the Altai mountains where glaciers and snow-capped are situated. Tavan Bogd mountains, stands tall and majestic, are the highest mountains in Mongolia and called as Five Saints.

Day 6. Peaks and glaciers

Today is a truly special day as you will take a horseback hike to view glaciers and the Tavan Bogd peaks up close. You will have the opportunity to witness and photograph the magnificent glaciers, peaks and Alpine panorama.

Day 7. Back to Ulgii

After an incredible adventure in the Altai mountains you will drive back to Ulgii town. Along the way, you can reflect on the memories we’ve made, the landscapes we’ve witnessed, and the stories we’ve heard.

Day 8. Departure day

You will say farewell to western Mongolia as you take a flight back to Ulaanbaatar. This incredible journey you take with us will remain etched in your memories forever.
